KUALA LUMPUR 25 Sept – Southeast Asia’s fast-growing gaming industry is gearing up for its biggest annual gathering as LEVEL UP KL 2025 returns from 6-8 October at the Connexion Conference & Event Centre, Bangsar South.
Hosted by the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), the region’s premier game developer conference is expected to draw thousands of participants, including developers, publishers, investors, and technology providers from across the globe.
Last year’s edition attracted over 2,500 attendees and 80 exhibitors, generating more than RM130 million in business opportunities.
With a stronger international presence this year, the 2025 edition is set to surpass those achievements, positioning Malaysia firmly on the world map as a hub for game development.

“LEVEL UP KL shows how Malaysia is taking a lead in Southeast Asia’s gaming space. It is more than just a gathering; it’s a catalyst,” said Anuar Fariz Fadzil, Chief Executive Officer of MDEC.
“As the nation’s digital economy enabler, MDEC is committed to empowering homegrown talent, driving innovation, and expanding global opportunities, while positioning Malaysia as a leading hub for game development in the region,” he added.
Bigger, Bolder, Global
This year’s conference goes beyond exhibitions and showcases. The focus will be on deal-making, investments, and strategic partnerships through curated networking sessions and high-stakes project pitching.
Highlights include:
Industry Conference: Keynotes and panels on design, monetisation, storytelling, and industry trends.
Business Connection Programme: Tailored one-on-one meetings linking developers with publishers and investors.
Pitch Day: Regional developers present prototypes to global decision-makers, with major publishers like Nintendo, Kowloon Nights, and Neon Doctrine expected to attend.
SEA Game Awards: Honouring creativity and excellence in innovation, visual design, and artistry.
LEVEL UP KL Steam Event: A two-week online showcase of Southeast Asian indie games.
SEA Game Jam: A 48-hour challenge for developers to create original games.
The opening day will feature intensive Masterclass Workshops by leading global experts, aimed at equipping participants with practical insights into production, publishing, and market expansion.
Malaysia at the Heart of Southeast Asia’s Gaming Push
With gaming revenues in Southeast Asia projected to grow steadily over the next five years, Malaysia is leveraging LEVEL UP KL as a springboard for foreign investment, talent development, and regional collaboration.
Industry insiders view this as a timely push, given the rising global appetite for Southeast Asian storytelling and creative IPs. Malaysia’s digital economy policies, combined with MDEC’s strategic initiatives, are seen as key enablers for growth.
