Amazon Global Selling's summit helps Malaysian SMEs to build international brands

KUALA LUMPUR 5 Feb. - Amazon Global Selling is holding its inaugural Amazon Southeast Asia Online Seller Summit 2021 for Malaysia on February 4 and 5, 2021 to provide long-term educational support for Malaysians who are looking to sell on Amazon.

 

This first seller summit in Malaysia, themed “Go Global, Sell on Amazon” builds on Amazon’s current initiatives such as the online seller education series, Seller University, and over 250 new tools and services to help sellers grow their sales in Amazon’s stores worldwide.

 

The online event, joined by representatives from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI), industry partners, and sellers from Malaysia, garnered more than 1,000 registrations in total.

 

Senior Minister of Economy and Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali said, government agencies such as the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation actively encourages small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to leverage on e-commerce websites to reach out to a wider spectrum of consumers worldwide.

 

“We are glad to see Amazon having its first virtual seller summit in Malaysia. This very event complements the many efforts of the government of Malaysia in advancing digitalization throughout all value chains.

“We hope local SMEs capitalize on this opportunity by digitizing and internationalizing the uniqueness and desirability of Malaysian brands to the global audience.” said Mohamed Azmin Ali in his opening speech.

 

Amazon Global Selling helps businesses from anywhere in the world to launch a global business, reaching Amazon customers around the world and building international brands.

 

Through selling on Amazon online stores, worldwide sellers can reach more than 300 million active customer accounts directly, including more than 150 million prime customers in Amazon online stores globally.

 

Amazon in a statement noted, Malaysia possesses a competitive advantage in manufacturing and e-commerce.

 

“There are many Malaysian sellers who have captured the fast-changing trends, which resulted in international expansion through Amazon, especially in product categories such as Jewelry, Health and Personal Care, and Home.

 

“As the transformation continues, now it is ideal time for Malaysian sellers to go online to set up a global business presence,” it said.

 

Meantime, Head of Amazon Global Selling in Southeast Asia, Bernard Tay said, through the virtual seller summit, Amazon hopes to support Malaysian sellers to tap into their potential and promote the future of Malaysia products via its online stores.
